Tesla has announced the opening of its first pop-up experience center in Bengaluru, marking the electric vehicle manufacturer's debut in the southern Indian city. The temporary facility will operate from January 15 to 31, 2026, at the ACKO Drive Service Centre in Kudlu Gate.
The pop-up will feature four Tesla Model Y vehicles, allowing visitors to participate in guided walkarounds and product demonstrations. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the company's design approach, electric vehicle technology, safety systems, and performance specifications through interactive displays.
Test drives will be available daily from 10am to 9pm, with bookings accessible through the Tesla India website. The company stated that the initiative aims to increase awareness and education around electric vehicles in Bengaluru, described as one of India's primary technology and innovation centers.
The Model Y achieved the position of world's best-selling vehicle in both 2023 and 2024, according to Tesla. The vehicle has received five-star safety ratings from multiple international safety organizations. In India, the Model Y is offered in two configurations: a Rear-Wheel Drive variant priced at INR 59,89,000 with a 500 km range, and a Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive model at INR 67,89,000 with a 661 km range, both measured under WLTP standards.
The vehicles can utilize Tesla's Supercharging network, which the company states can add up to 267 km of range in 15 minutes. Home charging support is also available for Indian customers. Both variants have a top speed of 201 km/h, with acceleration times of 5.9 and 5.6 seconds respectively for the 0-100 km/h sprint.
Tesla currently operates three permanent locations in India: a center in Gurugram, and experience centers in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex and Delhi's Aerocity. The company requires an order deposit of INR 22,220 and an admin and service fee of INR 50,000 for vehicle purchases.
The Bengaluru pop-up represents part of Tesla's broader strategy to expand its presence in the Indian market and promote electric mobility adoption in the country.
