Tesla Opens Experience Centre In New Delhi
The American EV maker has set up its second experience-cum-retail centre in the country located at Worldmark in New Delhi’s Aerocity.
After foraying into the Indian market on July 15 with its maiden experience centre in Mumbai, American EV marque Tesla inaugurated its first store in the national capital today.
The experience-cum-retail outlet is located in Worldmark 3, Aerocity, on the outskirts of the New Delhi International airport. The company has leased prime location at this business-cum-entertainment centre that witnesses robust footfall owing to the scores of offices, restaurants, and hotels nearby.
The Tesla Model Y, which was launched in India on July 15 at Rs 59.89 lakh, ex-showroom, is the sole car on display at the company's New Delhi experience centre, which comes nearly a month after the brand's official launch in the country.
The company has also set up a couple of its proprietary Supercharger EV fast chargers at the lower-ground level of Worldmark 3.
While Tesla’s entry into India has been a roller coaster ride with the brand anticipating special exemptions from the government in terms of reduction in import duties, the latter had been pushing the renowned EV maker for setting up local manufacturing in the country with incentives dependent on investing in the country. Tesla has eventually opted the CBU route to kickstart its operations in India.
Tech Specs
The Tesla Model Y comes available in two options- the Standard version with a WLTP range of up to 500km and a Long Range variant - with a WLTP-certified range of 622km and a 0-100kph acceleration time of 5.6 seconds.
Although the Tesla India website does not specify it clearly, internationally, the Standard Model Y gets a 64kWh battery with a 299hp rear motor, while the Long Range version gets a 78.1kWh battery with a 340hp rear motor. Both have a claimed top speed of 201kph.
The car gets LED lighting all around with flush door handles and 19-inch aero-optimised wheels for better efficiency. It gets a fixed glass roof and frame-less doors that give it the unique aesthetic appeal. The interiors get a typical Tesla minimalist theme with the central display acting as the brain of the car.
As per Autocar India, the Tesla Model Y in India comes equipped with a 15.4-inch central touchscreen, powered, heated and ventilated driver and front passenger seats, powered 2-way folding and heated rear seats, a 9-speaker audio system, an 8-inch rear touchscreen, ambient lighting, powered front and rear AC vents, eight exterior cameras that power the ADAS suite, panoramic glass roof, connected car tech, heated steering and windshield, and a dashcam.
Tesla is offering an 8-year warranty on the battery pack and is providing a complementary home wall-box charger with the Model Y as part of the company's launch in India.
