Tesla has opened reservations for its new Roadster in India, among other markets, and has given Model Y L owners a free acceleration upgrade.

Reservations for the Roadster are open in the United States and selected other countries, including India.

Tesla says the design draws on the SR-71 and F-35 aircraft, and that the car uses SpaceX components. The company describes its performance as going beyond the Plaid variants of its other models.

Production starts in 2028 and will be Left-Hand Drive only. Availability depends on each region's legal requirements.

Tesla has added a complimentary Acceleration Boost to the Model Y L, its six-seater SUV. The car now goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. Its range is up to 681 km on the WLTP cycle.

Model Y and Model Y L are the only Tesla vehicles sold in India. Tesla says both have earned top ratings from safety bodies including NHTSA, IIHS, Euro NCAP, ANCAP and C-IASI.

  • Model Y: ₹50,89,000, with a down payment of ₹6,00,000 and EMIs from ₹39,990 a month.
  • Model Y L: from ₹61,99,000, with a down payment of ₹6,50,000 and EMIs from ₹49,990 a month.

The EMI figures assume a 7-year tenor and an 8.5% APR under a step-up plan. They are indicative and subject to financier approval.

Tesla has 20 Supercharger stalls and 28 Destination Charger stalls in India, with three more sites due by the end of 2026. Households in 23 states can now charge at home.

Both models qualify for Tesla's Refer and Earn programme. Existing owners earn ₹11,000 in credits for each successful referral, which can go toward Supercharging, service and other items. New buyers get ₹22,000 off a new Tesla.
