Terra Motors, a Japanese electric vehicle manufacturer, has appointed its first L5 category dealership in India, located in Varanasi, as part of its plan to expand its presence across the country. The dealership, M.M. Enterprises, will handle sales and service for Terra’s L5 electric three-wheeler, the Kyoro+, designed for both urban and semi-urban markets.
Following the launch of the Kyoro+ on May 27, Terra Motors has seen over 100 dealership enquiries in just two weeks. In response, the company is actively onboarding new partners, particularly from the L3 segment and existing L5 operators. The initiative is aimed at supporting dealers looking to adapt to shifting regulatory conditions that affect e-rickshaws in city centres.
Go Suzuki, Managing Director of Terra Motors India, said the appointment reflects the company’s strategy to grow its L5 presence and offer vehicles that are both practical and financially accessible. The Kyoro+ comes with a 200 km range, a five-year warranty, and a starting on-road price of ₹3.65 lakh, with zero down payment options available through Terra Finance.
M.M. Enterprises, previously an L3 dealer, chose to shift to L5 in response to evolving traffic norms that restrict CNG and e-rickshaw movement on main roads. Proprietor Mukhtar Ansari noted that the Kyoro+ met key criteria for customers, including range, comfort, affordability, and financing flexibility.
Terra Motors is encouraging more L3 dealers to consider moving into the L5 category and plans to appoint up to 100 dealers across key Indian cities in the coming months.
Founded in Tokyo in 2010, Terra Motors produces electric two- and three-wheelers and operates manufacturing units in India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, and Japan. The company has been active in India since 2014 and had established a network of over 400 dealerships by 2024. Its EV charging infrastructure division, Terra Charge, aims to deploy 1,000 charging points to support the country's growing electric mobility ecosystem.
