Tata Motors has released the first teaser of its upcoming Aeris sedan, which is set to make its debut on September 25. The new sedan will essentially be the facelifted version of the Tigor, with more details expected to be revealed closer to its launch.
Tata Aeris: What the Teaser Reveals
The Aeris gets a significantly revised front-end compared with the outgoing Tigor. The teaser shows slim LED headlights with a thin DRL strip positioned above them, along with LED fog lamps, which are not offered on the current Tigor.
At the rear, the sedan gets redesigned tail-lights and a revised bumper. Earlier design patent images had revealed reflectors positioned on either side of the rear bumper.
The Aeris retains the Tigor’s distinctive notchback-style roofline, while the wheels feature a new design and are expected to continue with a 15-inch size. The facelift will also bring sheet metal changes, making the Aeris more than just a cosmetic update.
The sedan is also expected to be offered in a new purple exterior shade. The upcoming Tigor EV replacement is expected to follow a similar design, with some EV-specific changes.
Tata Aeris Interior and Features
Tata has not yet revealed the interior of the Aeris. However, the sedan is expected to borrow several elements from the recently updated Tiago.
The cabin could feature a revised dashboard layout and a freestanding touchscreen infotainment system. Other expected features include automatic climate control, powered ORVMs, six airbags as standard, rear AC vents and fast-charging ports.
Tata Aeris Powertrain Options
The Aeris is expected to retain the Tigor’s existing 1.2-litre petrol engine, along with its petrol-CNG option. Both powertrains are currently offered with a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT.
The Aeris EV is expected to use the Tiago EV’s battery options, potentially offering 19.2kWh and 24kWh battery packs.
Tata could also introduce a battery-as-a-subscription (BaaS) option for the Aeris EV, similar to the recently updated Tiago EV, helping reduce the initial purchase price.
Tata Aeris Price And Launch
Prices are expected to be revised slightly with the facelift. The current Tigor is priced between Rs 5.55 lakh and Rs 8.84 lakh, while the Tigor EV is priced between Rs 12.49 lakh and Rs 13.75 lakh, both ex-showroom.
