Tata Technologies has announced the launch of InnoVent 2026, the third edition of its engineering innovation hackathon, in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The competition targets 3rd and 4th year engineering students across India and focuses on developing solutions for smart mobility challenges.
The hackathon's theme centers on leveraging technologies including artificial intelligence, generative AI, agentic AI, Internet of Things (IoT), embedded software, cloud computing, digital twins, and augmented/virtual reality. Students will address challenges across the mobility value chain, with project areas spanning software-defined vehicles, AI-powered embedded intelligence, autonomous systems, sustainable mobility, and connected communications.
Participants can compete for cumulative cash prizes worth INR 4.5 lakhs, along with paid internship opportunities at Tata Technologies. Special recognition awards will be given for the most creative projects and physical prototypes. Top-performing teams will receive access to AWS cloud technologies and mentorship from Tata Technologies experts.
The evaluation process consists of three stages: initial reviews, virtual proof-of-concept presentations, and final demonstrations. Projects will be assessed based on diversity, novelty, feasibility, and impact, with particular emphasis on physical prototypes and agentic systems capabilities in real-time decision making and adaptive learning within mobility environments.
The hackathon encourages participation from women engineers and differently abled team members. AWS will provide hands-on workshops to help top teams leverage cloud platforms for solution development, while Tata Technologies will offer innovation tools and technologies to scale winning projects.
Warren Harris, MD and CEO of Tata Technologies, stated that the collaboration with AWS aims to foster an ecosystem where young engineers can innovate for smarter, cleaner, and more connected mobility. Satinder Pal Singh, Head of Solution Architecture at AWS India and South Asia, emphasized the opportunity for students to develop technical skills from IoT to artificial intelligence while addressing real-world mobility challenges.
The previous two editions of InnoVent established the hackathon as a platform for engineering innovation in India. Project submissions for the current edition must be completed by July 30, 2025. Additional information about the program is available at the Tata Technologies InnoVent website.
