Tata Nexon EV with bigger 45kWh battery launched at Rs 13.99 lakh

Tata Motors has introduced the larger 45kWh battery on the Nexon EV, prices of which start at Rs 13.99 lakh. The Nexon EV with 45kWh has been introduced in three variants, with the top-spec Empowered+ 45 priced at Rs 16.99 lakh. Apart from the upgraded battery, the Nexon EV also gets a new Red Dark edition which is priced at Rs 17.19 lakh (ex-showroom).

The 45kwh battery pack has been introduced on the entry level Nexon EV Creative variant onwards which is why it is priced lower than the 40.5kwh variant that starts with the second from base Fearless variant and is priced at Rs 14.59 lakh.

First up, the Nexon EV’s larger 45kwh battery pack allows for an ARAI-claimed range of 489km. C75 range is 350-370km. Tata Motors says new 45kwh battery pack gets 15 percent more energy density and takes the same amount of space as the 40kwh unit. The charging time for the 45kwh battery, especially for 10-80 percent has come down to 48mins instead of 56 mins earlier. While there is a slight increase in weight, Tata Motors is confident that the five-star BNCAP crash test certificate that was valid on the Nexon EV 40kwh, will be extended on the 45kwh version as well.

Apart from the bigger battery, the Nexon EV also gets some more features in the higher variants that include a panoramic sunroof and a “Frunk” for additional storage.  Higher variants also get ventilated front seats, a Vehicle to Vehicle and vehicle to load charging setup, a 7.2kw AC fast charger among other bits.

The Nexon EV Red Dark edition has been introduced at a price of Rs 17.19 lakh (ex-showroom). At a price increase of Rs 20,000 the Red Hot Dark edition is based on the Empowered+ 45 variant. Similar to the Nexon EV Dark, it gets gloss black accents and a matte-black finished body shell. 16-inch gloss black alloy wheels are standard. The interior gets a unique “Red Dark” theme with Red leatherette seats. Just like the regular 45kwh Nexon EV, the Red Dark also gets a panoramic sunroof.

As far as battery pack options go, the Nexon EV continues to be available with a 35kwh battery, prices for this line-up start at Rs 12.49 lakh. Additionally, the 40.5kwh battery pack is also available currently, prices for the Nexon with 40kwh battery line-up start at Rs 14.59 lakh (ex-showroom).
