The company's domestic and international sales reached 69,131 units in July 2025, compared to 71,996 units during July 2024. Domestic sales accounted for 65,953 units, representing a 6% year-on-year decline from 70,161 units in July 2024.
Commercial Vehicle Segment Shows Resilience
Commercial vehicle sales provided the month's bright spot, with total CV sales reaching 28,956 units, registering a 7% year-on-year growth compared to 27,042 units in July 2024. Domestic CV sales stood at 26,432 units, up 4% from 25,436 units in the previous year.
The heavy commercial vehicle trucks segment recorded sales of 6,735 units compared to 6,493 units in July 2024, marking a 4% increase. Intermediate and Light Medium Commercial Vehicle trucks showed stronger performance with 5,068 units sold, representing a 17% growth from 4,341 units in the same period last year.
Passenger carriers maintained steady momentum with 4,749 units sold versus 4,424 units in July 2024, achieving 7% growth. However, small commercial vehicle cargo and pickup segments experienced a marginal decline of 3%, with sales dropping to 9,880 units from 10,178 units.
Passenger Vehicle Segment Faces Challenges
The passenger vehicle division encountered difficulties in July 2025, with total PV sales declining 11% to 40,175 units from 44,954 units in July 2024. Domestic PV sales, including electric vehicles, fell 12% to 39,521 units compared to 44,725 units in the corresponding month of the previous year.
International business for passenger vehicles showed improvement with 654 units sold, representing a significant 186% increase from 229 units in July 2024. This growth, however, could not offset the domestic market decline.
Electric Vehicle Sales Reach New Heights
Despite the overall passenger vehicle segment decline, Tata Motors achieved its highest-ever monthly electric vehicle sales with 7,124 units, marking a 42% year-on-year increase from 5,027 units in July 2024. This milestone represents a significant step in the company's zero-emission journey.
The EV performance includes sales from both Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, subsidiaries of Tata Motors Limited.
