Tata Motors Reports CSR Impact on 1.47 Million Lives in FY25
Company's 11th annual CSR report details water conservation, rural development, and livelihood programs across 109 aspirational districts, with majority of beneficiaries from marginalized communities.
Tata Motors has released its 11th Annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report, documenting the company's impact on over 1.47 million people across India during the fiscal year 2025. The report, titled "Expanding Circles of Care: Deeper connections, lasting impact," shows that 56% of program beneficiaries belong to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities.
The automotive manufacturer operates CSR programs across 109 aspirational districts, focusing on water conservation, rural development, education, and livelihood support. According to the company, its approach emphasizes "convergence" – aligning people, policy, and purpose to create sustainable change.
During a year when 66% of rural Maharashtra faced drought conditions, Tata Motors restored 356 water bodies across 10 districts. The initiative created 700 crore liters of additional water capacity, benefiting approximately 7,000 farmers and 290,000 villagers. The company plans to expand this program to rejuvenate 1,000 water bodies across 25+ districts in FY26.
The Integrated Village Development Programme (IVDP), launched in 2018, now operates in 16 gram panchayats across Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh. In FY25, the program expanded to Shravasti and Balrampur districts in Uttar Pradesh. The initiative aligns with 13 Sustainable Development Goals and integrates with 48 government schemes, impacting over 18,000 people in Maharashtra's Palghar district tribal areas.
In Pune, the company partnered with Kashtakari Panchayat to support 8,000 waste picker families, enrolling 1,814 women in health schemes and providing education opportunities for their children. Four youth from these families secured positions at Tata Motors through the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme.
The company also established the Kamgar Samman and Suvidha Kendra in Bhosari, providing legal aid and government entitlement access to over 12,000 migrant workers.
Under the ENABLE program, more than 19,000 students received competitive exam coaching, with 8,000 appearing for JEE Mains and a 28% qualification rate. In Mumbai's civic schools, remedial coaching programs achieved a 96% SSC pass rate, exceeding the city average.
Project Aarogyasampanna addressed malnutrition in Mumbai's Trombay slums, screening over 1,000 children and achieving a 90% reduction in severe and moderate malnutrition cases.
Tata Motors hired 141 persons with disabilities and 17 transgender individuals across its manufacturing facilities in FY25, supported by inclusive policies and training programs.
Over 19,000 Tata Motors employees contributed more than 200,000 hours to various social causes, including health awareness, environmental initiatives, and disaster management support.
Vinod Kulkarni, Head of CSR at Tata Motors, stated that the company's approach focuses on "maximizing impact efficiently and extending meaningful benefits to the most underserved by leveraging government schemes."
The company indicated it will continue expanding its CSR initiatives through data-driven approaches and partnerships, aiming to contribute to India's development goals while ensuring equitable progress.
