Additionally, when talking about the future plans, Tata Motors has confirmed that the launch of the Sierra will take place in the second half of 2025, as per the company’s latest investor presentation. The Sierra will be offered with both all-electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) powertrain options. The launch of the Sierra EV will precede the ICE version, following a similar approach as seen with the Tata Curvv. The Curvv EV was introduced in August 2024, followed by the Curvv ICE in September 2024.
The Sierra is expected to be built on the new ATLAS platform, which Tata Motors introduced at the launch of the Curvv. ATLAS (Adaptive Tech Forward Lifestyle) is a versatile platform designed to support various body styles, including SUVs, MPVs, and sedans. This platform also has the capability to support 4X4 functionality, suggesting that the Sierra might offer a 4X4 system in its ICE variant. If Tata Motors includes this feature, the Sierra will become the first 4X4 ICE SUV from the brand since the discontinuation of the Safari Storme in 2020.
The Sierra EV is anticipated to use Tata's Gen2 EV platform, the Acti.EV architecture, which also supports models like the Punch EV and the Curvv EV. While not yet confirmed, the Sierra EV could feature a dual-motor setup, similar to the upcoming Harrier EV, offering all-wheel-drive capabilities. The Harrier EV is slated for launch in the first quarter of 2025, and it is expected to share some mechanical components with the Sierra EV.
Tata Motors has also patented the final design for the Sierra, and both variants of the model are expected to go on sale in the latter half of 2025.
