Tata Motors has officially commenced production of its flagship electric SUV, the Harrier.ev, at its Pune manufacturing facility, following an overwhelming market response that saw over 10,000 bookings on the very first day of its launch. The company confirmed that customer deliveries will begin in July 2025.
The milestone was announced through a post by Tata.ev on social platform X (formerly Twitter), which read: "It's no longer just coming soon. It's being made. Production of India's most powerful homegrown SUV has begun. Harrier.ev is now in motion to Delete — Impossible."
Priced between ₹21.49 lakh and ₹30.23 lakh, the Harrier.ev is available in five variants across two drive configurations—Quad Wheel Drive (QWD) and Rear Wheel Drive (RWD). The electric SUV comes in four colour options: Nainital Nocturne, Empowered Oxide, Pristine White, and Pure Grey. A special STEALTH Edition featuring a matte black exterior and black interior is also part of the line-up.
Developed on Tata's acti.ev+ architecture, the Harrier.ev features a dual-motor QWD setup that delivers impressive performance credentials. The top-end Quad Wheel Drive version produces a combined 313 horsepower, with 158 PS (116 kW) at the front and 238 PS (175 kW) at the rear, generating a combined torque of 504 Nm. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds, which Tata claims is the fastest in its segment.
The electric SUV is powered by battery options including a 65 kWh pack offering a certified range of 538 km and a larger 75 kWh pack with up to 627 km range based on MIDC standards. The C75 variant offers an estimated range between 480 km and 505 km.
The Harrier.ev supports fast charging with 120 kW DC fast charging capability, which adds 250 km of range in just 15 minutes. For home charging, the 7.2 kW AC charger enables a full charge in approximately 10.7 hours. Tata Motors is offering a lifetime warranty on the battery pack for the first private individual owner.
The SUV comes equipped with a 36.9 cm (14.53-inch) infotainment screen developed by Harman using Samsung's Neo QLED technology—described as the world's first Neo QLED display for automotive use. The audio system features ten JBL speakers, JBL audio modes, and Dolby Atmos support.
Additional features include a 10.25-inch digital cockpit, Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems, seven airbags, and a 540-degree camera system that provides visibility around and beneath the vehicle. The Harrier.ev also boasts a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating.
For off-road capabilities, the vehicle includes Quad Wheel Drive, six terrain modes, and the 540-degree surround view system. Ride comfort is enhanced by an Ultra Glide Suspension system with Frequency Dependent Damping.
Convenience features include e-Valet Auto Park Assist, a Digi Access digital key, and DrivePay functionality.
The Harrier.ev will compete against established models like Mahindra's XUV 9e, MG's ZS EV, and BYD's Atto 3, as Tata Motors seeks to expand its leadership position in India's rapidly growing electric vehicle market.
