Tata Motors Launches Intra V40 CNG Pickup

Tata Motors, India's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, on Tuesday launched the Intra V40, a new bi-fuel small commercial pickup targeting operators in last-mile logistics and cargo transport.

The vehicle runs on both CNG and petrol, powered by a 1.2-litre engine producing 58 bhp and 106 Nm of torque. It carries a rated payload of 1,525 kg and features a 110-litre CNG tank intended to support longer operational range between refuelling stops. Tata Motors positions the bi-fuel configuration as a practical option for operators in areas where CNG infrastructure may be uneven.

The Intra V40 is built on a hydroformed chassis and includes front disc brakes, a walk-through cabin, and Fleet Edge telematics connectivity for remote monitoring and predictive maintenance. The company says the platform is derived from its existing small commercial vehicle lineup.

Pinaki Haldar, Vice President and Business Head of Tata Motors' Small Commercial Vehicle & Pickup Unit, said the launch reinforces the company's strategy to expand its alternate fuel offerings as demand for lower operating costs grows among fleet operators.

With the Intra V40, Tata Motors now offers four bi-fuel models — the Ace Pro Bi-fuel, Ace CNG 2.0, Intra V20 Gold, and the new Intra V40 — alongside three electric variants: the Ace Pro EV, Ace EV 1000, and Intra EV Pickup.

The vehicle is supported by the company's Sampoorna Seva 2.0 service programme, which covers lifecycle maintenance and roadside assistance.
