Tata Motors Limited and Iveco Group N.V. have officially combined operations to create the world’s fourth-largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, boasting combined first-year revenues of approximately €21 billion ($24 billion).

The deal, finalized following a tender offer that concluded in late October 2026, pairs India’s dominant commercial vehicle maker with the Italian truck, bus, and powertrain manufacturer. The combined business enters its first year producing nearly 590,000 vehicles annually across heavy trucks, light commercial vehicles, buses, and specialized industrial equipment.

Both companies enter the combination profitable and cash-generative, operating across 130 countries with 27 manufacturing sites, 25 R&D centers, and a workforce exceeding 73,000 employees.

The €21 billion revenue base anchors a global distribution footprint of more than 9,300 sales and service touchpoints. The transaction provides immediate geographic balance: Tata Motors holds market leadership in India alongside expanding operations in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, while Iveco brings established positions across Western Europe and Latin America.

Speaking at a global press conference in Turin, N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, Tata Motors, and Iveco Group, emphasized that the financial scale is designed to fund long-term product development across shifting regulatory environments. "In terms of revenues, we are in excess of 21-22 billion Euros with a strong financial strength," Chandrasekaran said. "This should not be seen as a consolidation effort. This is about the future".

Chandrasekaran added that while global ranking is not the sole objective, scale provides the financial backing required to navigate major industrial shifts. "Scales matter as much as technology matters. And that will enable us to make the right investments to produce future products," he added.

The combined product catalog spans light pick-up trucks, heavy long-haul rigs, city buses, and industrial engines. Through Iveco’s powertrain division, FPT Industrial, the entity also gains engine manufacturing capabilities serving agriculture, construction, marine, and power generation sectors.

Girish Wagh, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors, pointed to the breadth of the joint catalog as a central commercial driver. "Together, there is perhaps no commercial mobility requirement we cannot serve," Wagh said during the press event. "From sub-one tonne pickups to 55 tonne long haulers, from 10 seater vans to 51 seater coaches. A pickup in Pune, a bus in Bogota, a long hauler on the Autobahn, a yacht in the Mediterranean. One enterprise with the capabilities to power them all".

Iveco Group will retain its corporate headquarters and primary engineering hubs in Turin, Italy, preserving its existing brand identities, including IVECO, FPT, IVECO BUS, HEULIEZ, and IVECO CAPITAL. Tata Motors will support Iveco’s existing capital expenditure and product investment programs in Europe.

Olof Persson, Chief Executive Officer of Iveco Group, noted that the combination provides industrial stability while opening access to new geographic markets. "Together, we are bigger than we ever imagined" he noted.
