Tata Motors' electric buses achieve 25 Crore kilometres milestone

Operating across 10 cities, Tata Motors' 3,100 electric buses have saved over 1.4 lakh tonnes of CO2 emissions, promoting eco-friendly mass mobility with advanced features and reliable performance for sustainable urban transportation.

Tata Motors, one of India's leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, announced that its fleet of 3,100 electric buses operating in 10 cities has collectively covered over 25 crore kilometres. This distance is equivalent to traveling around the Earth more than 6,200 times.  

On average, these electric buses cover 200 kilometers per day, contributing significantly to reducing air pollution and promoting environmentally friendly mass transportation. The fleet's cumulative efforts have resulted in saving approximately 1.4 lakh tonnes of CO2 tailpipe emissions while achieving this milestone.  

Speaking about this achievement, Mr. Asim Kumar Mukhopadhyay, CEO and MD of TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Limited, noted that 15 crore kilometres were completed within the past 12 months, indicating a growing acceptance of sustainable urban mobility solutions by both commuters and state transport undertakings. He expressed gratitude for the trust and support from stakeholders and reiterated the company’s focus on enhancing mass mobility with safer and greener options.  

Tata Motors' electric buses are designed to offer a reliable, eco-friendly, and efficient alternative to conventional transportation systems. With data-driven operations and maintenance practices, the fleet achieves an uptime of over 95%, ensuring smooth and dependable commutes for millions of passengers across cities including Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Jammu, Srinagar, Lucknow, Guwahati, and Indore.  

These buses come equipped with features like air suspension for a comfortable ride, hydraulic lifts for differently-abled passengers, and ergonomic seating. Available in both 9-meter and 12-meter configurations, they combine advanced technology with robust performance to meet the demands of modern urban transportation.
