Tata Curvv and Curvv EV awarded 5 stars in BNCAP crash tests

Curvv EV scores slightly better than the Curvv, in adult and child protection tests.

Tata Motors’ latest product, the Curvv SUV has been tested by Bharat NCAP. The ICE-powered Curvv and the Curvv EV have both secured a 5-star BNCAP crash test rating. The coupe-SUVs were tested separately and have managed to achieve slightly different scores for adult and child protection. For the Curvv ICE, BNCAP tested the diesel Accomplished + A variant, while for the Curvv EV, the Empowered + A variant with the 55kWh battery was tested.

 

Tata Curvv ICE BNCAP crash test scores explained

The Curvv with the internal combustion engine got 29.50 points out of 32 in adult occupant protection (AOP). In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, where the vehicle's speed is 64kph, it got 14.65 out of 16 points. The second part of AOP is the side moveable deformable barrier test, where the SUV scored 14.85 out of 16. 

The Curvv scored 29.50/32 in adult occupant protection.

As far as child occupant protection (COP) goes, the Curvv scored 43.66 points out of a total of 49. It secured 22.66 out of 24 in the dynamic tests, 12 out of 12 points in CRS installation score, and 9.0 out of 13 in vehicle assessment score. These ratings are applicable to entire Tata Curvv line-up, which are powered by petrol and diesel engines.

Tata Curvv EV BNCAP crash test scores explained

The electric SUV-coupe got 30.81 points out of 32 in adult occupant protection (AOP), with 15.66 out of 16 points in the frontal offset deformable barrier test, and 15.15 out of 16 points in the side moveable deformable barrier test.

The Curvv EV has a higher AOP score of 30.81/32.

The Curvv EV’s child occupant protection (COP) score was 44.83 points, out of a total of 49. It secured a dynamic score of 23.83 out of 24, a full 12 out of 12 points in CRS installation, and 9.0 out of 13 in vehicle assessment. These ratings are applicable to entire Tata Curvv EV line-up, which comes equipped with either a 45kWh or a 55kWh battery pack.
