Tata AutoComp Systems Limited, a major provider of automotive and mobility components, will present its newly expanded portfolio for the railway sector at the International Railway Equipment Exhibition (IREE) 2025 in New Delhi this month.
The company plans to highlight innovative products and solutions designed specifically for Indian railways, alongside strategic partnerships established with global technology leaders.
The exhibition will feature Tata AutoComp's offerings across four main categories: propulsion systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions, seating systems, and lightweight composite components. All solutions are developed with a focus on enhancing passenger comfort, reducing maintenance requirements, and improving energy efficiency within the Indian railway ecosystem.
As part of its diversification strategy, Tata AutoComp has established partnerships with Škoda, Compin Fainsa, and Air International Thermal Systems.
These collaborations are intended to bring established global technologies to the Indian market while adapting them to local cost structures and requirements. The company has also established joint ventures to enable domestic manufacturing and assembly of railway components within India.
According to Tata AutoComp's Vice-Chairman Arvind Goel, the railway sector represents a natural expansion for the company given India's ongoing rail network modernization and government emphasis on infrastructure improvement and passenger comfort.
The company's managing director and CEO, Manoj Kolhatkar, noted that Indian Railways has traditionally relied heavily on imported technologies, and that localizing these offerings could reduce response times while maintaining quality and cost-effectiveness.
Tata AutoComp's existing experience in automotive seating systems and composite materials forms the foundation for its railway expansion. The company's lightweighting expertise is particularly relevant to railways, as reducing coach weight directly decreases electricity consumption and operating costs on electrified networks.
The company is already supplying components to Vande Bharat trains and operates through 21 business units, including 11 joint ventures with international partners, across 66 manufacturing facilities located in India, North America, Latin America, Europe, and China.
