Tata Altroz Secures 5-Star Safety Rating Under Bharat NCAP
Tata Motors highlighted that the Altroz is the only CNG-powered car in India to be awarded a 5-star rating under Bharat NCAP protocols.
Tata Motors on Wednesday announced that its premium hatchback, the Altroz, has received a 5-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP), making it the first hatchback in India to achieve the highest score across all its fuel variants, including petrol, diesel, and CNG.
The Altroz secured 29.65 out of 32 points in adult occupant protection and 44.9 out of 49 points in child occupant protection, placing it at the top of its segment in terms of safety performance.
According to the Bharat NCAP test results, the hatchback demonstrated strong structural integrity and occupant protection during both frontal and side impact tests. The car was assessed across variants, including the Altroz Pure CNG MT, CRTV S CNG MT, and Accomp S DMT, and maintained consistent performance across powertrains.
In child occupant protection, the Altroz achieved near-maximum scores with 23.9/24 in dynamic tests and a full 12/12 in child restraint system installation assessment. The vehicle is equipped with ISOFIX anchorages, seat belt reminders, and pedestrian protection features as standard across variants.
For buyers, the 5-star Bharat NCAP rating means the Tata Altroz offers one of the highest levels of crash safety currently available in India, giving families greater confidence in everyday driving. With strong scores for both adult and child occupant protection, along with standard safety features such as ISOFIX mounts, airbags, electronic stability control, and pedestrian protection, the Altroz provides enhanced peace of mind without requiring customers to move up to larger or more expensive vehicle segments.
Tata Motors also highlighted that the Altroz is the only CNG-powered car in India to be awarded a 5-star rating under Bharat NCAP protocols, reinforcing the company’s emphasis on safety alongside alternative fuel adoption.
Bharat NCAP, launched in 2023, is India’s official crash testing and vehicle safety rating programme, aligned with international testing standards. The programme evaluates cars on adult and child occupant protection, as well as safety assist technologies, to help consumers make informed purchase decisions.
With this recognition, the Altroz joins Tata Motors’ line-up of well rated vehicles under both Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP.
