Tata Altroz Racer gets discount for the first time

Just five months after introducing the Altroz Racer, Tata is now offering benefits to make it more attractive. All three variants get discounts of up to Rs 65,000, which includes a direct cash discount and an exchange or scrappage bonus.

Launched on June 7, the Tata Altroz Racer is available in R1, R2 and R3 variants, with the top-spec model getting features like segment-first ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera and blind spot monitoring. Other features on offer on the top-spec variant include a new 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen and a powered sunroof.

All three trims are powered by a 120hp, 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. Depending on demand, Tata Motors is mulling an automatic version that would get the Nexon’s 7-speed dual-clutch unit. The company is also considering expanding the Racer brand, which could include the upcoming Altroz EV. The Racer performance sub-brand would be to Tata Motors what the N Line is to Hyundai.

Speaking of Hyundai, the Altroz Racer’s direct rival is the i20 N Line, which is powered by a 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that comes with manual and dual-clutch auto gearbox options. Prices for the manual range between Rs 10.00 lakh and Rs 11.42 lakh, while the automatic variants cost Rs 11.15 lakh-12.52 lakh. Interestingly, select Hyundai dealerships are offering discounts and benefits of up to Rs 40,000 during this month.
