The 13th edition of the SUPRA SAEINDIA Formula Student competition is scheduled to be held from September 2 to September 5, 2026, at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, featuring 66 collegiate engineering teams from across the country.
Organized by SAEINDIA, an affiliate of SAE International, the competition challenges engineering students to design, fabricate, test, and validate formula-style race vehicles built in accordance with international Formula SAE regulations. The 2026 grid includes 52 conventional internal combustion vehicle teams and 14 electric vehicle teams representing technical institutions across India.
The four-day programme will run through a two-stage evaluation structure. Static rounds comprise technical scrutiny, tilt and brake testing, noise level checks, design and manufacturing assessments, and cost and business strategy presentations, with electric vehicle entries undergoing specialized battery safety and rain chamber testing. Vehicles clearing technical inspection will proceed to dynamic trials, including acceleration runs, skid-pad handling, and autocross courses, culminating in an endurance challenge. Total awards and cash prizes across categories exceed Rs 11 lakh.
The event forms the final phase of a year-long curriculum supported by industry mentors and a 30-member organizing committee drawn from automotive and engineering companies. Since its inception, the platform has provided practical vehicle development training to over 25,000 student engineers.
