Stellantis and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles have commemorated 20 years of partnership through their joint venture, Fiat India Automobiles Private Limited (FIAPL), by signing a Memorandum of Understanding to explore additional areas of collaboration.
The 50:50 joint venture, which currently employs nearly 5,000 people and produces 222,000 vehicles annually, has manufactured more than 1.37 million vehicles since its inception. The partnership operates a manufacturing facility in Ranjangaon, Pune, where it produces four Jeep models and three Tata Motors passenger vehicles.
The newly signed MoU will explore opportunities for collaboration across manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain operations in India and international markets. The agreement builds on FIAPL's established capabilities in manufacturing, powertrain development, and supply chain management.
"FIAPL stands as a testament to what two strong organizations can achieve together," said Grégoire Olivier, Chief Operating Officer of Stellantis Asia Pacific. "As we commemorate this milestone, we remain focused on evolving the partnership to support future-ready manufacturing, innovation, and sustainable growth in the region."
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, emphasized the foundation of the partnership. "Our partnership with Stellantis through FIAPL reflects the strength of a long-standing collaboration built on trust, shared values and a common vision," he said.
The Ranjangaon facility currently manufactures the Jeep Compass, Meridian, Grand Cherokee, and Wrangler from Stellantis's portfolio, alongside Tata Motors' Nexon, Altroz, and Curvv models. The plant includes in-house production capabilities for engines, transmissions, and traction motors, and exports vehicles to markets including Japan and South Africa.
Stellantis is a global automaker with brands including Jeep, RAM, Dodge, Peugeot, Citroën, and Fiat. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, part of the $180 billion Tata Group, is positioning itself at the forefront of India's electric vehicle transition. The company was renamed from Tata Motors Limited to Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited in October 2025 following a corporate restructuring.
