Stellantis acquires CloudMade to boost AI capabilities in STLA SmartCockpit

Stellantis N.V. has announced the successful acquisition of CloudMade, a leading developer of innovative big data-driven automotive solutions. This asset deal includes CloudMade's artificial intelligence framework, machine learning models, and intellectual property rights, reinforcing Stellantis' software strategy outlined in Dare Forward 2030. The integration of CloudMade's AI-powered framework is expected to play a crucial role in the mid-term development of STLA SmartCockpit.

The cloud and software development kit created by CloudMade, with integrated graphical interfaces, has been a reference point for transforming in-car and mobility user experiences over the past decade. This acquisition, as part of Stellantis' Dare Forward 2030 strategy, signifies a commitment to accelerate the development journey of STLA SmartCockpit. The adaptable technology from CloudMade, coupled with Stellantis' growing connected car parc, aims to create intelligent mobility solutions with increased flexibility to provide personalized in-vehicle and mobile experiences, the company shared.

As part of the deal, 44 engineers and software developers from CloudMade, dedicated to AI technology development, will be joining Stellantis. The acquisition is set to deepen the working relationship between CloudMade and Stellantis, enabling the delivery of new features to the vehicle's cockpit.

CloudMade's framework architecture employs three learning approaches – personalized learning, fleet learning, and cohort learning. This approach allows maximizing data value, predicting individual behavior, leveraging sensor data across devices, and combining real-world data with clustered groups of people distinguished by attributes.

The integration of CloudMade's software technology is expected to support Stellantis' strategy in developing intelligent mobility products, enhancing the overall customer experience with personalized features. These features will cover areas such as predictive maintenance and diagnostics, personalized in-car experiences, Stellantis-specific voice assistants, optimized mobile experiences, advanced navigation and mapping, and targeted features for fleet management.

Through this acquisition, Stellantis aims to develop end-to-end and fully owned navigation features, enhance data privacy, and introduce development kits for making custom models for its software developers. This strategic move is poised to contribute significantly to Stellantis' goal of providing innovative and personalized mobility solutions to its customers.
