Steelbird Helmets announced the launch of its Vintage 3.0 Series on August 6, 2025, introducing an open-face helmet that combines vintage design elements with contemporary safety standards. The helmet is priced starting at ₹1299 and targets the growing cruiser motorcycle and urban scooter markets in India.
The Vintage 3.0 draws design inspiration from 1970s motorcycle helmets while incorporating modern safety features. The helmet meets both Indian ISI (IS 4151:2015) and US DOT (FMVSS 218) safety standards, addressing regulatory requirements for both domestic and international markets.
Steelbird Helmets, which describes itself as India's leading helmet manufacturer, developed the product in response to increasing popularity of cruiser motorcycles and scooters in Indian cities. The company has positioned the helmet for riders of various motorcycle types, from Royal Enfield cruisers to Vespa scooters.
"At Steelbird, we don't just make helmets — we create riding companions that reflect a rider's identity," said Rajeev Kapur, Managing Director of Steelbird Helmets. "The Vintage 3.0 is a salute to motorcycling heritage, combining retro design with cutting-edge safety and unmatched comfort."
The helmet features a screw-free quick release mechanism that allows users to switch between a heritage-style peak and a protective visor without tools. The design accommodates Steelbird's existing 3-in-1 mask system and includes a rear elastic strap holder for riding goggles.
Technical specifications include a high-impact ABS outer shell and high-density EPS liner for impact protection. The helmet weighs approximately 1000 grams, plus or minus 50 grams, and features a removable inner liner with washable cheek pads. The visor is made from polycarbonate material and includes UV protection and scratch resistance.
The product line offers 15 color options, including Sea Blue, Coral Peach, Cherry Red, Battle Green, Armada Blue, and Glossy Black. Three shell sizes are available: Medium (580mm), Large (600mm), and Extra Large (620mm). The top-tier variant is priced at ₹1599, with optional upgrades including color-matched peaks and smoked visors.
The Indian helmet market has seen growth alongside the country's expanding two-wheeler segment, particularly in urban areas where scooters have gained popularity for daily commuting. Cruiser motorcycles have also established a following among enthusiasts seeking touring and leisure riding options.
The Vintage 3.0 Series represents Steelbird's attempt to capture market share in the open-face helmet segment by combining safety compliance with design elements that appeal to riders seeking alternatives to full-face helmets.
