Spiro announced that it has launched its first 100 electric motorcycles in Ghana, introducing its Ekon 450 M1 V3 two-wheeler and battery-swapping network to the African nation.
The deployment targets commercial riders and delivery fleets in Greater Accra. Spiro operates a battery-swapping system allowing riders to exchange depleted batteries for charged units in two minutes at dedicated swap stations. The integrated ecosystem is designed to reduce daily vehicle operating costs, with estimated savings of up to 2 US dollars per day compared to conventional petrol-powered two-wheelers.
Kaushik Burman, CEO-Mobility of Spiro, said, "Ghana represents a major opportunity for electric mobility, with a rapidly growing two-wheeler market and increasing demand from commercial riders and delivery fleets. Our first 100 motorcycles mark the beginning of our ambition to make electric mobility accessible at scale across Ghana."
Spiro currently operates over 156,000 electric motorcycles and 2,500 battery-swapping stations across seven African markets.
