Sona BLW Precision Forgings Limited has clarified that its discussions with various potential customers, including reports linking it to Chinese EV manufacturer BYD, are part of ordinary business operations and do not constitute material events requiring regulatory disclosure.

The clarification came in response to news articles that appeared across mainstream media on July 17, 2025, stating "the company is in advanced talks to supply electric vehicle components to Chinese EV manufacturer BYD."

In a regulatory filing to BSE and NSE, the company stated it is "in discussions with several potential customers in India and globally in the ordinary course, for growth of its business."

The company emphasized that "at this stage, there is no material event/information that requires disclosure under Regulation 30 of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015."

Sona Comstar assured stakeholders that it "will make appropriate disclosures in compliance with applicable laws, as and when required" and remains "committed to full compliance with all applicable regulations and uphold the highest standards of transparency and ethical conduct."

Analysts see the news as part of a larger trend—Indian auto component manufacturers are increasingly attracting interest from international EV players. While a deal with BYD remains unconfirmed, Sona BLW’s international presence and product capabilities align with broader industry patterns of increased global engagement among Indian auto part suppliers.

Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Gurugram, Sona Comstar is a global supplier of automotive systems and components with facilities in India, the U.S., Serbia, Mexico, and China. Its offerings include precision forging, driveline and traction motor solutions, radar systems, and mobility software. The company serves a diversified customer base across regions, vehicle types, and technologies, with a particular focus on the electric vehicle market.
