Skoda Kodiaq Lounge launched at Rs 39.99 lakh
Five-seat Kodiaq Lounge gets fewer features than its more expensive seven-seat counterparts.
Skoda has launched the Kodiaq Lounge, a new entry-level variant of the Kodiaq at a price of Rs 39.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Skoda Kodiaq Lounge sits below the Kodiaq Sportline and range-topping Selection L&K variant and comes with a 5-seat configuration, unlike
As far as pricing goes, the Kodiaq Lounge’s starting price of Rs 39.99 lakh undercuts the Kodiaq Sportline (Rs 43.76 lakh) and also the top-spec Skoda Kodiaq Selection L&K (Rs 45.96 lakh).
Additionally, the Skoda Kodiaq Lounge gets subtle design and feature changes as well but remains mechanically identical to the rest of the line-up.
On the exterior, the Kodiaq Lounge gets 18-inch Mazeno alloy wheels and is available in three exterior colours – Moon White, Magic Black and Graphite Grey. On the inside, the removal of the third row boosts boot space from 281 litres to a much bigger 786 litres. The Kodiaq Lounge’s cabin also features grey faux-suede and fabric upholstery along with a two-spoke steering wheel.
Feature highlights on the new Skoda Kodiaq Lounge include the same safety kit as higher variants, although the Kodiaq Lounge misses out on gesture control for the powered tailgate and a 360-degree camera. The infotainment setup on the Skoda Kodiaq Lounge consists of a 10.4-inch touchscreen paired with a 9-speaker, 100W audio system, compared to the larger 12.9-inch screen and 13-speaker Skoda Canton unit on the higher trims.
The Kodiaq Lounge gets the same 204hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, with all-wheel drive offered as standard as the other variants. With the Lounge variant, Skoda is aiming to attract buyers who prefer a 5-seat layout at a lower price point without compromising on performance.
As far as rivals go, the Kodiaq Lounge will take on the 5-seat variant of the Jeep Meridian although the Meridian comes with diesel engine only. It will also rival the likes of the Hyundai Tucson which also comes with a five seat cabin at a similar price point.
