Skoda confirms 7-seat flagship electric SUV for 2026 debut

Skoda will reveal an all-new seven-seat electric SUV next year as its new flagship model, positioned above the Elroq, Enyaq and the forthcoming Epiq SUVs in the Czech manufacturer’s expanding EV line-up. The full-size SUV will serve as the production version of the Vision 7S concept unveiled in 2022, and has been described by CEO Klaus Zellmer as the brand’s new flagship. Reports suggest it could adopt the “Skoda Space” nameplate when it debuts in production guise.

The Vision 7S concept was earlier shown in India, where Skoda later confirmed that the production-spec model will be launched in 2027.

The concept marked the debut of Skoda’s ‘Modern Solid’ design language, which has since been applied to other models. The production version is expected to remain close to the original’s styling but will sit on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, shared with the Elroq and Enyaq. Prototypes have revealed a slightly more toned-down look compared to the concept, with flush door handles, a long sloping roofline, and less pronounced door sills. At approximately 4.9 metres long, the SUV will be about 250mm longer than the Enyaq, making it Skoda’s largest electric SUV to date.

While the prototype’s cabin has not been revealed, the Vision 7S concept featured an oval steering wheel, a button-free dashboard, and a large rotatable touchscreen similar to those seen in BYD models. The concept was configured as a four-seater, but the production version is expected to offer both five- and seven-seat layouts. Sustainable materials such as leather-free upholstery, used in the concept, are also likely to feature in the road-going model.

The Vision 7S concept was showcased with an 89kWh battery pack that delivered a claimed WLTP range of more than 600km. Skoda has confirmed that the production version will support 200kW fast charging. While detailed specifications remain under wraps, the SUV is expected to offer both rear- and all-wheel-drive options with outputs in line with the updated Enyaq.
