Simple Energy, a Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has closed a Series C funding round of ₹1,750 crore (about USD 180 million), all in equity. The company said it is its largest round to date and the third-largest raised by an Indian electric two-wheeler maker.

The round was led by the family office of Dr. Arokiaswamy Velumani. Founder and CEO Suhas Rajkumar and co-founder and CFO Ankit Gupta also took part, as did Amit Mishra, a high-net-worth individual based in Bengaluru, and the Haran Family Office. The company did not disclose the valuation at which the round was raised or the size of each participant's contribution.

Simple Energy said the funds will go toward a new manufacturing facility, higher production, and expansion of its sales and service network. They will also cover hiring, marketing, supply chain and research and development for its next product cycle. The company did not give a location, capacity or timeline for the new facility.

Rajkumar said the company has built its core technology, products, manufacturing and retail network in-house, and that the new capital will be used to scale them. He said the priorities are a new plant, higher output, a wider distribution and service network and the next generation of products.

Velumani, who is also associated with Thyrocare, AVMLabs and AVMSmiles, said Simple Energy owns its technology for the chassis, battery, motor and software, which he described as uncommon among Indian electric vehicle makers. He also said he expects the company to be among the top three players in the segment within three years. That is a forecast, and the company did not provide supporting projections.

Simple Energy currently has a production capacity of 10,000 units per month. It says it is among India's top 10 electric two-wheeler makers by monthly sales, with sales driven by the Simple One and Simple Wave models. According to the company, monthly sales have risen more than fourfold over the past year. It did not disclose absolute sales figures for either period.

The company operates more than 80 outlets in over 60 cities, including Bengaluru, Delhi, Patna, Hyderabad and Chennai. In the past eight months it has launched two models, the Simple Wave and the Simple Ultra. The company said they are aimed at the family and performance scooter segments respectively.

The latest round follows a ₹250 crore raise in June 2026, made up of debt and equity. That round was also led by Velumani's family office, with Rajkumar and Gupta participating. Including the Series C, the company has raised more than ₹2,530 crore in total. Its investors include Velumani's family office, Amit Mishra, Balamurugan Arumugam, the Haran Family Office, the Desai Family Office (promoters of Apar Industries) and the Vasavi Family Office.

By the company's account, the Series C is its third round of 2026 or its second, depending on how earlier rounds are counted. The company's statement describes it as its latest round of the year after the June raise.

India's electric two-wheeler market includes newer, venture-backed manufacturers as well as established motorcycle and scooter makers that have added electric models. Several of the newer players, including Ola Electric and Ather Energy, have listed on Indian stock exchanges in recent years. Simple Energy remains privately held, and its funding has come from family offices and individual investors rather than a public offering.

Simple Energy was founded in 2019 by Rajkumar, with Shreshth Mishra as a co-founder. Gupta later joined as an additional co-founder. The company designs and makes its own chassis, battery, motor and software. It says it was the first Indian manufacturer to commercially produce motors that use no heavy rare-earth materials, and the first to offer a lifetime warranty on its motor and battery.
