Simple Energy Introduces OneS Electric Scooter at ₹1.39 Lakhs

Clean tech startup Simple Energy launched its new electric scooter, the Simple OneS, priced at ₹1,39,999 (ex-showroom) on Wednesday. The new model features a fixed 3.7 kWh battery delivering an IDC range of 181 kilometers and a top speed of 105 kilometers per hour.

The Simple OneS is powered by an 8.5kW PMSM motor and accelerates from 0 to 40 km/h in 2.55 seconds in its highest performance mode. The scooter comes with four riding modes: Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic, and is available in four colors: Brazen Black, Grace White, Azure Blue, and Namma Red.

"Our focus has always been on pushing the boundaries of technology to create smarter solutions," said Suhas Rajkumar, Founder and CEO of Simple Energy. "With enhanced features and improved affordability, we are making premium EV technology within reach for more riders."

The new model includes connectivity features through a 5G e-SIM, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, allowing riders to manage calls on a 7-inch touchscreen dashboard. Additional features include turn-by-turn navigation, over-the-air updates, and a park assist function with forward and reverse movement capabilities.

With this launch, Simple Energy will discontinue its previous entry-level model, the Simple Dot One, focusing its portfolio on the Simple One Gen 1.5 and the newly introduced Simple OneS.

The company, founded in 2019 by Rajkumar and Shreshth Mishra, operates a manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, with an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles. Simple Energy is backed by several angel investors and family offices, including executives from companies like Apar Industries and Klarity.

In February, Simple Energy launched the Gen 1.5 version of its flagship Simple One model with an extended range of 248 kilometers, marketing it as India's longest-range electric two-wheeler.

The Simple OneS is currently available across the company's 15 showrooms in cities including Bangalore, Goa, Pune, Hyderabad, and Kochi. Simple Energy plans to expand its retail operations to include 150 new stores and 200 service centers across 23 states in India by the 2026 fiscal year.

India's electric two-wheeler market has seen significant growth in recent years, supported by government incentives aimed at reducing carbon emissions and decreasing dependency on fossil fuels. According to industry reports, electric scooter sales in India have been increasing steadily as consumers look for alternatives to traditional gasoline-powered vehicles amid rising fuel prices and environmental concerns.
