Shriram Pistons Expands into EV and Advanced Auto Components

Shriram Pistons & Rings Limited has amended its Memorandum of Association (MOA) to expand its business scope into electric vehicles and advanced automotive components.

The amendment makes three changes to Clause III(A) of the MOA.

Expanded Core Business
The first change updates the existing sub-clause to broaden the range of engine and transmission components the company can manufacture. The updated clause covers pistons, piston rings, cylinder liners, engine bearings, valve tappets, connecting rods, steering knuckles, gear assemblies, and power take-offs, among other parts. The clause now also extends coverage to a wider range of end-use vehicles, including drones, lawnmowers, snowmobiles, submarines, and aircraft, alongside conventional automobiles, trucks, tractors, and motorcycles.

Electric Vehicle and Powertrain Systems
The second new clause marks a move into the electric vehicle supply chain. The company will now be able to design, manufacture, and sell traction motors — including permanent magnet synchronous, axial flux, radial flux, and combination flux motors — along with motor controllers, DC-DC converters, battery management systems (BMS), and e-drive systems. The clause also covers radar and telematics units, infotainment systems, ADAS components, lidars, high-pressure die casting (HPDC) parts, and a range of precision-molded plastic and metal components used in vehicle interiors and exteriors.

OEM and Jobbing Business
The third new clause covers original equipment manufacturer (OEM) products and jobbing work across a broad range of automotive components. This includes axles, propeller shafts, universal joints, injection-moulded parts, EV water pumps, thermal cooling systems, plastic fuel capture systems, and automotive lighting — including LED lights, ambient lights, day running lights, charging indicators, illuminated grilles, and lighted logos. The clause also covers interior components such as capacitive touch panels, intelligent steering systems, sun visors, head liners, door panels, and parcel trays.
