SEW Eurodrive Inaugurates New Drive Technology Centre in Chennai
The facility is spread across 12.27 acres, and provides scale and flexibility needed to support customer growth and future expansion of operations.
SEW-Eurodrive India has inaugurated a new Drive Technology Centre in Chennai, aimed at strengthening its operational capabilities and enhancing customer responsiveness across South and East India.
Built with a long-term perspective, the facility is spread across 12.27 acres and is designed to offer scalability and flexibility to support future growth and expansion. The centre is expected to improve service reliability and enable faster response times for customers in key industrial regions.
The infrastructure incorporates sustainability-focused features, including natural daylight integration, solar power generation, and rainwater harvesting systems. Energy-efficient construction and advanced climate control measures help reduce shopfloor temperatures by up to 3°C, contributing to stable production conditions, consistent product quality, and improved working environments.
The facility houses a 15,000-square-metre assembly shop equipped with digitisation-ready, high-productivity assembly cells based on a single-piece flow concept. It also includes the company’s first semi-automated painting booth in India, designed to ensure uniform surface quality and higher throughput.
SEW-Eurodrive is a global leader in power transmission products and services, and ranks among the largest manufacturers of electric motors, gear units, gearmotors, electronics, and automation systems.
