SEDEMAC Implements Siemens Xcelerator to improve motor control unit development

Siemens Digital Industries Software has announced that SEDEMAC has adopted the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio of industry software to support its product development.

The Siemens software will assist in developing motor control units for electric vehicles (EVs), hybrids, eBikes, and power tools, as well as engine control units for off-road and on-road engines.

Founded at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, SEDEMAC has manufacturing and development facilities in Pune, India. Its sensorless control (SLC) technology is now incorporated into millions of vehicles and other equipment worldwide.

SEDEMAC has implemented Siemens' Polarion™ X software to manage traceability between requirements and test cases, centralize test reports, handle version and revision management, manage lessons learned, and standardize design actions and reporting across teams.

In addition, SEDEMAC has adopted Siemens' Teamcenter® X software for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) to complement its Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tool, Polarion. Together, these tools are designed to improve development speed without compromising quality.

Teamcenter X creates a digital innovation backbone, facilitating seamless collaboration between teams, streamlining management of manufacturing Bills of Materials (mBOM), and increasing engineer productivity and efficiency.

Harsh Vinjamoor, Chief Engineer of Systems Engineering at SEDEMAC, stated that Polarion’s flexible approach has enabled them to create workflows that align with their processes, improving project management and risk oversight.

The system's reporting tools allow quality teams to manage multiple projects and keep management informed of potential risks. The ability to modify workflows in-house has also facilitated ongoing process improvements.

Mathew Thomas, Managing Director and Vice President for India at Siemens Digital Industries Software, highlighted the importance of a comprehensive digital platform strategy for companies developing solutions in the electric vehicle ecosystem.

He noted that Siemens' digital twin offerings, based on the Xcelerator platform, provide interoperability and flexibility, enabling SEDEMAC to integrate these tools with its existing technologies and focus on product development, research and development, and engineering.
