Schwing Stetter India plans to ramp up production at its recently inaugurated Jamshedpur facility to 400 truck mixer machines a month next year, as the construction equipment maker prepares for higher demand, according to a senior company official.
The facility received its consent to operate in August and produced around 25 machines in its first month, said Schwing Stetter’s Chairman and Managing Director VG Sakthikumar.
“In the first month, we delivered something like 25 machines. In September, we will be making 50 machines. Next month we will go to 100. And by the end of December it will be 200. And next year our plan is to ramp it up to 400 per month,” he said.
The company inaugurated the new facility in Jamshedpur in June. The plant is dedicated to make truck mixers for Tata Motors’ trucks. “At the moment it is only dedicated for our partner Tata Motors,” Sakthikumar said.
The production ramp-up comes as Schwing Stetter prepares for the next phase of growth. The company has also expanded its existing manufacturing facility, increasing its construction area from 5 lakh square feet by another 2 lakh square feet.
“The new products whatever I talked about will have assembly lines in this facility,” Sakthikumar added.
The executive said the company had completed the investments needed in manufacturing capacity and was also working with suppliers to prepare for higher production. “I think in terms of capex and capacity building, we have done what is required to be done to meet the next phase of growth in the next 2-3 years,” he said.
“We are ready in terms of product and also on the manufacturing capacity. And we are working at the moment on the supply chain also, where our partners are also gearing up to meet our increased numbers.”
The company expects the construction equipment market to strengthen after three years of relatively flat domestic demand, with Sakthikumar expecting 2027, 2028 and 2029 to be strong years.
In FY26, domestic construction equipment sales fell around 7%, while overall industry volumes declined about 2%, as per the data from the Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (ICEMA). Exports, however, rose more than 30%, partly offsetting the fall in domestic demand. The association is looking at a growth of around 7% this year.
Schwing Stetter has another facility in Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu, spread across 52 acres, manufacturing concrete boom pumps, stationary pumps, self-loading mixers, shotcrete pumps, excavators, wheel loaders and motor graders. Autocar Professional has earlier reported that the company is targeting to double its overall revenue to Rs 12,000 crore by the end of the decade, and expand it further to Rs 25,000 crore by 2037.
