Schaeffler India Limited has obtained official Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) licenses for its manufacturing plants in Maneja and Savli, Gujarat. The compliance certificates cover the production of both Cylindrical Roller Bearings (CRB) and Deep Groove Ball Bearings (DGBB) at both corporate locations. With this approval, the motion technology supplier becomes the first entity in the domestic bearings industry to secure a BIS license for cylindrical roller bearings under the newly instituted Indian quality standard.

The certification follows an expansion of India’s regulatory quality framework, which mandates stricter manufacturing and material standards for industrial components to verify operational reliability. The dual licensing at the Maneja and Savli facilities transitions the firm’s supply lines into alignment with the revised national guidelines, allowing the local production of these bearing lines to continue uninterrupted for automotive and industrial original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Harsha Kadam, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Schaeffler India Limited, stated that the acquisition of the licenses demonstrates the technical readiness of the company's manufacturing teams to adjust to evolving regulatory and statutory industrial demands.
