Saint-Gobain India’s High-Performance Solutions (HPS) Business showcased its tailor-made solutions at the Battery Show India 2023, a premier event, dedicated to advanced battery technology and innovation.

Safety is of paramount importance when it comes to EV battery packs. A battery pack consists of multiple cells stacked in a certain way which provides power to the vehicle. These high-capacity energy storage systems play a vital role in powering EVs, but they also pose unique safety considerations.

Battery packs must be designed and engineered to minimise the risk of thermal runaway, which can lead to fires or explosions.

The battery pack protection solutions by Saint-Gobain India are engineered to withstand extreme conditions, encompassing compression and tolerance pads, thermal runaway protection, and more. Additionally, the company provides electrical insulation, thermal management products, and tapes for the electric vehicle sector.

Speaking on the occasion, Ritesh Patterson, General Manager - Performance Plastics, Saint-Gobain India said, “Electric vehicles (EV) require battery pack protection solutions that address extreme conditions of temperature, smoke among others. This is exactly what we offer at Saint-Gobain, with safety and performance being top priorities. Saint-Gobain’s battery pack solutions are driven to deliver EV battery pack protection by providing materials that reduce manufacturing complexity while improving overall battery life."
