Royal Enfield has reported a robust 31% year-on-year (YoY) growth in total sales for July 2025, with 88,045 motorcycles sold compared to 67,265 units in July 2024. This performance is in stark contrast to its competitor, Bajaj Auto, which saw a decline in its domestic two-wheeler sales during the same period.
The growth for Royal Enfield was primarily driven by its popular models with engine capacities up to 350cc, which sold 76,047 units, a 34% increase from the previous year.
Models with engine capacities exceeding 350cc also saw a healthy 12% growth, with 11,998 units sold. The company's international business was a standout performer, with a massive 95% jump in exports, reaching 11,791 units.
When compared to the previous month, June 2025, Royal Enfield's sales saw a slight dip from 89,540 units. In June, the company had reported a 22% YoY growth.
Looking at the trailing twelve months of retail sales data, Royal Enfield has shown a fluctuating but overall positive trend. After a dip in sales in June 2024, the company saw a recovery in July 2024, a trend that has continued with the strong performance in July 2025.
Bajaj Auto, on the other hand, faced a challenging month in the domestic market. The company's domestic two-wheeler sales saw a sharp 18% YoY decline, with 139,279 units sold in July 2025.
Overall, Bajaj Auto's total sales, including commercial vehicles and exports, saw a marginal 3% YoY increase to 366,000 units, largely buoyed by a 28% surge in exports. The company's total domestic sales fell by 13%.
While Royal Enfield's month-on-month numbers show a slight moderation, the strong YoY growth and the impressive performance in exports indicate a healthy demand for the brand.
In contrast, Bajaj Auto's reliance on exports to maintain its overall sales figures highlights the current softness in the domestic two-wheeler market for the company.
