Royal Enfield has launched the Himalayan 440, pricing the adventure motorcycle from Rs 2,29,000 (ex-showroom, Tamil Nadu). Bookings opened on September 4 across company showrooms and online channels.
The motorcycle introduces an updated 443cc single-cylinder, long-stroke powertrain mated to a six-speed gearbox, succeeding the original 411cc architecture while retaining its chassis configuration. The engine delivers 25.4 bhp at 6,250 rpm and 34 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm, with mechanical updates aimed at reducing noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels.
Initial production units will feature a 10-year anniversary emblem on the fuel tank to commemorate a decade of the Himalayan badge, which has recorded cumulative global sales of over 3,20,000 units across the original model and the liquid-cooled Himalayan 450 introduced in 2023.
Cycle parts include a half-duplex split-cradle frame supported by 41mm front telescopic forks with 200mm of travel and a rear linkage-type monoshock offering 180mm of travel. The motorcycle rides on a 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheel combination, with a ground clearance of 220mm and an unladen seat height of 800mm. Braking duties are handled by a 300mm front disc with a two-piston floating caliper and a 240mm rear disc, equipped with switchable dual-channel ABS.
Equipment includes an LED headlamp, a digital-analogue instrument display, Tripper turn-by-turn navigation, a USB Type-C charging port, and a 15-litre fuel tank. The model is offered in three paint schemes: Sela Black, Mustang Brown, and Nelong White.
