Flying Flea name is a strong likelihood.

Nearly two years ago, we were the first publication to bring you images of the Royal Enfield electric bike. After a long wait, the company has finally announced the date for its reveal: November 4.

The teaser shared by Royal Enfield is quite interesting as it doesn’t show the bike at all. Instead, what is visible is a motorcycle gently floating down from the sky, suspended by a parachute. This might seem puzzling at first glance but allow me to jog your memory.

The Royal Enfield Flying Flea was a lightweight motorcycle developed as a means of transport that could be dropped by parachute on the battlefields of WWII, to quickly carry messages between airborne and assault troops. Post the war, it served as an inexpensive means of transportation. Taking that into account, Royal Enfield could brand the electric bike that has been teased as the Flying Flea.

Royal Enfield is a company steeped in history and despite this being a break from a traditional motorcycle powertrain, in typical RE fashion the company will want to establish the new bike’s lineage and connect it to the original article.

Royal Enfield holds the trademark rights to the Flying Flea name in India and this is another reason why the name Flying Flea for the upcoming EV is a strong likelihood. A few months ago, we also uncovered the design patent of an electric bike filed by RE and to read about everything we could see there, tap HERE

All questions about the Royal Enfield electric bike will be answered on November 4, when the company takes the wraps off it. Stay tuned for the latest developments.
