RODIM Launches R-Star Paint Protection Film at Automechanika 2026

RODIM, the automotive surface protection brand under BASF, introduced its R-Star Paint Protection Film at Automechanika 2026, targeting India's expanding mass-premium automotive market.

The product launch took place with Co-Founders and Managing Directors of Sheen Automotive, Mr. Ruchir Malhotra and Mr. Sachin Kumar Ahuja, alongside BASF representatives including Mr. Andy Wong, Head of Business Management Asia-Oceania, Mr. Ram Gaur, Business Development Manager for BASF India, and Mr. Suraj Kapoor, Sales & Marketing Manager.

Mr. Amresh Khar, Sr. Vice President for India & International Markets (Sales & Marketing) at RODIM, stated that R-Star addresses driving and climate challenges specific to India, combining performance, durability, and value.

Unveiled under the theme "A Star Is Born", the film incorporates BASF's material science expertise developed over 160 years. The product features anti-yellowing technology, self-healing properties, and comes with a five-year warranty supported by trained professional detailers.

RODIM positioned R-Star as a response to quality concerns in the mass-premium PPF segment, where aggressive pricing has historically affected product standards. The film is designed for Indian road and climate conditions, offering enhanced gloss retention.

The launch expands RODIM's Paint Protection Film portfolio, which includes gloss and matt finishes, Pro Series options, black and colour variants, with warranty periods ranging from five to ten years.

As part of its India expansion strategy, RODIM plans to increase market presence through customized protection solutions tailored to vehicle types, usage patterns, and customer preferences. The company has implemented training programs for applicators and detailers using German training technology to maintain application standards.

RODIM India operates as a BASF brand, providing automotive paints, refinish paints, TPU materials, and Paint Protection Films to the Indian market.
