Renault India has introduced an updated version of the Kwid hatchback, revising its design, variant structure and pricing strategy as it looks to simplify the buying process for first-time car buyers. The refreshed model is now available in two variants—Evolution and Climber—with prices starting at Rs 4.52 lakh (ex-showroom).
The updated Kwid adopts Renault's latest brand identity and replaces the earlier multi-variant range with a simplified two-variant line-up. The company said the move is intended to make product selection easier while streamlining the ownership journey for entry-level customers.
Renault has also introduced an online sales benefit of Rs 15,000 on the Climber variant, reducing its effective transactional price to Rs 4.99 lakh for customers purchasing through the company's digital sales platform. The Climber is priced at Rs 5.14 lakh for the manual version and Rs 5.60 lakh for the AMT variant before the online benefit, while the Evolution variant is priced at Rs 4.52 lakh (manual) and Rs 4.89 lakh (AMT).
The Kwid continues with its 1.0-litre petrol engine paired with either a five-speed manual transmission or Renault's Easy-R AMT. Feature highlights include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, rear-view camera, dual front airbags and 184mm ground clearance.
The company said the revised range is available through its dealership network as well as its online retail platform across India. Renault India currently operates 638 customer touchpoints, including 200 Workshop on Wheels locations, while vehicles are manufactured at its Oragadam plant near Chennai. "With the New Kwid, we are building on this legacy by making the offering simpler, clearer, and more relevant," said Francisco Hidalgo, Vice President – Sales and Marketing, Renault India.
