Renault India Reports 3,399 Domestic Wholesales in September, up 20% From August
Year-to-date sales reached 35,378 units, up from 25,886 a year earlier, while the carmaker resumed exports to Sri Lanka and launched a turbocharged Triber.
Renault India recorded domestic wholesales of 3,399 units in September 2026, a 20% increase from August, the company said on Thursday. The company did not state the August figure, but the percentage implies about 2,830 units that month.
Wholesales count vehicles a manufacturer dispatches to its dealers, not vehicles sold to customers, so they can differ from retail registrations. Renault India did not release retail figures. The company said the figures come as it enters the festive season in India.
For January to September 2026, domestic sales totalled 35,378 units. The company said this was 36.6% higher than the 25,886 units sold in the same period last year, an increase of about 9,500 vehicles. Spread over nine months, the year-to-date total averages about 3,900 units a month. September's volume was therefore below that average, though above August's.
Renault India also said it restarted vehicle exports to Sri Lanka in September in partnership with AMW Motors. The first shipment of 100 vehicles, made up of the new Triber, Kwid and Kiger, left from Chennai. The company said this brings the number of countries it exports to up to 16 and marks its return to the Sri Lankan market. It did not say when it had last exported to the country or what volumes it expects.
In September, the company launched the Triber 100PS, the latest addition to its Triber seven-seater range. The Triber, a compact seven-seat vehicle, is one of three models named in the Sri Lanka shipment, along with the Kwid hatchback and the Kiger compact SUV. Renault said the new variant is the first Indian model built on the Renault Group Entry Platform (RGEP).
The company said the Triber 100PS has a 100 PS turbocharged engine and a re-engineered architecture. It is priced from INR 7.84 lakh (ex-showroom). Renault said the car's length of under four metres qualifies it for lower tax rates on sub-four-metre vehicles in India.
Renault India also announced that it will introduce its first hybrid powertrain in the country, the Duster strong hybrid E-Tech 160, on Oct. 17, 2026. The company described the plan as part of its "futuREady" strategy. It did not disclose pricing, expected volumes or other specifications for the model.
