Renault India Begins Nationwide Deliveries of New Duster SUV
Renault Group CEO François Provost personally handed over keys to the first customer in Chennai, coinciding with the opening of the brand's second new'R experiential store.
Renault India has commenced nationwide customer deliveries of the new Duster SUV, marking a significant milestone for the French automaker's Indian operations. The rollout began on Monday with a formal ceremony in Chennai, where Renault Group CEO François Provost handed over keys to the first customer, Dr. Arthanari Manickavasagam, a physician based in the city.
The event also coincided with the inauguration of Renault India's second new'R store on Mount Road, Chennai, the company's urban experiential retail format. The 4,500 sq. ft. facility includes a 3,000 sq. ft. display and customer interaction area capable of showcasing up to five vehicles, along with a dedicated delivery bay.
With the addition of the Chennai outlet, Renault India now operates 11 new'R stores nationally. The company has set a target of expanding this format to 70 locations across India by the end of the year, supplementing its existing network of over 350 sales touchpoints.
The Duster, which pioneered the mid-size SUV segment in India, is being offered alongside a customer service program called Renault Forever, providing coverage of up to seven years or 150,000 km. The launch comes as Renault India reported a 77 percent year-on-year increase in sales for March 2026, attributed in part to strong performance from the Kiger and Triber models, as well as early interest in the new Duster.
Renault India is a wholly owned subsidiary of Renault S.A.S. France. Its manufacturing facility in Oragadam, Chennai, has an annual production capacity of 480,000 units and supports over 450 service touchpoints across the country, including more than 250 Workshop on Wheels locations.
