Rajaram K – the former president and chief business officer who was steering the sales and marketing function at Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, has resigned from the company.

According to Rajaram’s Linkedin Profile, he has joined JCB India, the country’s largest construction equipment maker, as a Senior Vice President.

Rajaram was with the German Truck maker’s Indian subsidiary since its inception in 2008. Over time, Rajaram rose up the ranks from a product planning function to CEO of Africa region, before steering the Bharat Benz brand in the country to its highest ever volumes of about 17,000 units in FY23.

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles completed its 10 years of operation in 2022, wherein the company has been able to carve out a space for itself in the highly competitive medium and heavy commercial vehicle market. Rajaram was at the core of driving sales as the brand hit new peaks last year.

Between the domestic and exports market, DICV sold about 30000 units and with the demand remaining strong, the company is currently in the process of expanding capacity at its Oragadam facility.

In his new role, Rajaram will be driving the sales and marketing function at JCB.

The construction equipment market registered a growth of over 20 percent in the last financial year with sales of over 75,000 units. JCB India had a lion’s share with over 30,000 to 35,000 units sold. In the back-hoe loader space, the company in fact has a dominant share of over 75 percent.

With a deep understanding of the infrastructure and the mining space, the mechanical engineer from Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Rajaram would be looking at building JCB’s presence beyond its core back-hoe loader space.
