QNX and Pi Square Technologies Expand Embedded Software Education Initiative in India

QNX, a division of BlackBerry Limited, and Pi Square Technologies have reported substantial progress in their collaborative education initiative aimed at developing India's embedded software workforce. The "QNX Everywhere in Education for India" program, launched in February 2025, has established a significant presence across the country's engineering education landscape.

The initiative has formed partnerships with 51 academic institutions through signed Memorandums of Understanding, creating four regional clusters in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Coimbatore. Partner institutions include MAHE, PES, BMSCE, JSS, NIE, CBIT, Vasavi, GITAM, DSU, BVRIT, VIT, and Anurag University.

The program has trained and certified 74 faculty members in QNX technologies, enabling institutions to deliver embedded software education independently. Current enrollment stands at over 2,600 students, with projections indicating growth to approximately 3,000 students by year-end.

Infrastructure development includes 14 dedicated learning laboratories equipped with Raspberry Pi 4 devices running QNX Software Development Platform 8.0, providing students with practical experience using industry-standard development tools.

"This initiative is about more than skills and ecosystem needs—it's about empowering a community of people who will drive the future of embedded software innovation," stated Raj Jain, Vice President of QNX Engineering and Head of QNX India.

Srinivasa Raju, CEO of Pi Square Technologies, emphasized the collaboration's impact on education methodology. "Our collaboration with QNX is helping to redefine how embedded software development is taught across India—making education more hands-on, industry-aligned, and future-focused."

The partnership represents a component of QNX's international expansion strategy, targeting sectors including automotive, industrial automation, robotics, and medical devices. The initiative supports QNX's workforce development objectives, including talent cultivation for its Engineering and Innovation Center in Hyderabad.

QNX technology currently operates in over 255 million vehicles globally and serves various industries including automotive, medical devices, industrial controls, robotics, commercial vehicles, rail, and aerospace and defense.

Pi Square Technologies, headquartered in Detroit with operations in India, Germany, and the UK, provides embedded software services for automotive, medical, and industrial sectors, with current focus areas including ADAS/AD, digital cockpit systems, and software-defined vehicles.

The companies plan to continue expanding the program to additional academic institutions across India, with the goal of scaling embedded systems education and developing job-ready engineering talent.
