BPCL showcased the first indigenous alkaline electrolyser at the India Energy Week 2024 (IEW) in Goa, where Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed its operation.
Alkaline water electrolysis, the process through which hydrogen is produced from alkaline water via electrolysis, marks a pivotal advancement in industrial-scale application. Developed collaboratively with BARC, the prototype demonstrates high cell efficiency and robustness in an alkaline environment.
In line with India's target to produce 5 million tons of green hydrogen by 2030, BPCL plans a 5 MW Green Hydrogen Plant at Bina Refinery and a 500 KW capacity Integrated Hydrogen Refueling Station at CIAL.
This initiative aligns with "Aatma Nirbhar Bharat" and "Vocal for Local" campaigns, contributing to India's energy independence.
BPCL is showcasing its progress in green hydrogen production at the IEW 2024 Hydrogen Pavilion, highlighting India’s indigenous capabilities in the hydrogen domain.
