Piyush Goyal visits Tesla's California factory: ANI

Goyal said he was proud to see the growing importance of auto component suppliers from India in the Tesla EV supply chain.

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on Monday (local time) visited the Tesla manufacturing factory in California and added that the carmaker was on its way to double its component imports from India, ANI reported. 

He said he was proud to see the growing importance of auto component suppliers from India in the Tesla EV supply chain. Adding that he missed meeting Elon Musk and wishing him a speedy recovery, Goyal was 'delighted' to see Indian engineers and finance professionals working in senior positions at the company, contributing to Tesla's journey to transform mobility, ANI added. 

Goyal is on a visit to the United States from November 13-16 and will participate in the third in person Indo Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) Ministerial meeting from 13-14 November. He will also visit the APEC Summit in San Francisco. 

Taking to social media platform X, Goyal said, "Met H.E. Gan Kim Yong, Minister of Trade and Industry, Singapore, and discussed ways to accelerate cooperation across sectors to further deepen economic cooperation across sectors to further deepen economic partnership between India and Singapore." 

He also met US Trade Representative Ambassador Katherine Tai on the sidelines of the Indo Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) in San Francisco, where they both discussed IPEF and trade pillars, ANI added 

He is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo on "US India Innovation Handshake Initiative." He will participate in the investors' roundtable along with one on one meetings with CEOs, as per a press release. 

Goyal is also slated to interact with globally renowned entrepreneurship and academic communities in the Bay Area, particularly in Silicon Valley, to undertake focused discussions with American companies looking to invest or expand in India across sectors, especially electronics (semiconductors), technology and fintech, ANI stated.
