Pininfarina, the renowned Italian design house, has introduced "Pininfarina Classiche," a certification program for classic cars. This initiative, aimed at car enthusiasts and brand collectors, emphasizes Pininfarina's commitment to preserving and promoting its rich historical automotive and industrial heritage.

Pininfarina Classiche certifies classic cars, including "youngtimers," designed and produced in Pininfarina facilities over the years. The program relies on a meticulous cataloging process of the Pininfarina historical archive, involving approximately two years of inventory and classification of materials. Specialized software for archive management has been introduced in collaboration with the Historical Studies department at the University of Turin.

The archive includes manufacturing data for more than 50 car models spanning four decades, from the late '50s to the '90s, associated with prestigious automotive brands. It comprises production serial numbers for over 700,000 cars and more than 20,000 historically relevant documents, including sketches, shape plans, photographs, sheets, and technical correspondence.

Pininfarina Classiche issues production specification declarations, providing comprehensive information associated with each vehicle's chassis number. This includes details such as destination market, model and type code, external color, interior finishes, Pininfarina factory exit date, as well as the vehicle's engine and body number.

In the initial launch phase, Pininfarina Classiche will offer declarations for select early cars, including the Alfa Romeo Spider (Duetto), Fiat 124 Spider, Pininfarina Spider Europa, and Volumex. The program will later expand to cover numerous other brands and models.

Interested parties can request declarations by emailing [email protected]. After reviewing the vehicle's data, Pininfarina will communicate the availability of production specifications. The declaration prices vary based on the production year: Euro 400.00 VAT included for cars produced before 1980 and Euro 300.00 VAT included for those from 1980 onwards.
