Piaggio Launches Apé E-City 3W in Puducherry Market

Piaggio Vehicles has introduced its swappable battery commercial three-wheeler, the Apé E-City SWAP, into the Puducherry retail market. Piaggio announced that the Apé will be priced at ₹2.65 lakh ex-showroom in the Union Territory. The launch expands the company's regional deployment strategy, focusing on zero-emission transport solutions through specialized automotive supplier networks.

The launch relies on a partnership between Piaggio and energy provider Indofast Energy, utilizing a proprietary battery exchange framework. The mechanical system employs lithium-ion battery packs that can be physically replaced at swapping stations to minimize downtime. The three-wheeler delivers a peak power output of 7.4 kW and a peak torque of 32 Nm, yielding a driving range of approximately 110 kilometers per battery cycle. The vehicle also features integrated 4G telematics for logistical tracking and fleet operations management.

Alongside the commercial release, regional authorized dealer M/s Future Automobiles has launched a localized fleet operations service named 'EV Everywhere'. The rental business has deployed an initial baseline of 20 units of the swappable three-wheeler to service urban transport requirements.
