French automotive supplier OPmobility has inaugurated its sixth manufacturing plant in India at Kharkhoda, Haryana, marking its second facility established in partnership with Maruti Suzuki India and Suzuki Motor Corporation. The plant will manufacture energy storage systems and is expected to support Maruti Suzuki's manufacturing operations in northern India.
The new facility is operated by the joint venture between OPmobility, Maruti Suzuki and Suzuki Motor Corporation. It is the joint venture's second plant in northern India and is located within the Kharkhoda automotive manufacturing hub.
The facility is dedicated to producing full energy systems, including fuel tanks. Its annual production capacity is expected to reach one million fuel tanks by 2031.
OPmobility said the investment forms part of its strategy to expand its operations in India, with the company targeting a doubling of its revenue in the country by 2030.
OPmobility Expands Indian Manufacturing Footprint
OPmobility has been operating in India since 2007 and currently has six manufacturing plants and four R&D centres in the country. The company said its products are fitted to more than one in three vehicles manufactured in India.
It ranks first in the Indian market for fuel tanks and third for bumpers, according to the company.
Commenting on the inauguration, OPmobility CEO Félicie Burelle said the Kharkhoda facility would expand the company's manufacturing presence and support its partnership with Maruti Suzuki. She identified India's expanding automotive market and potential for higher vehicle ownership as factors behind the company's plans to increase its business in the country.
OPmobility reported economic revenue of €11.5 billion in 2025. Its global manufacturing network comprises 152 plants and 40 R&D centres, supported by approximately 38,100 employees.
