Ola Electric Gets ₹7,240 Crore ACC PLI Opportunity

Ola Electric Mobility has received revised timelines under the Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for its wholly owned subsidiary, Ola Cell Technologies (OCT), the company said on August 12, 2026. The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) has approved the revised timelines for the company's 20 GWh allocation.

The revised schedule provides Ola Electric with a five-year PLI window through calendar year 2031, with the company stating that it can access up to ₹7,240 crore in cumulative incentives. The incentives are to be disbursed quarterly, beginning next quarter.

Ola Electric currently has 2.5 GWh of installed cell-manufacturing capacity, with another 3.5 GWh under installation. The company expects to reach 6 GWh by the end of the current quarter, ahead of the revised December 2026 timeline for the initial capacity milestone. The revised decision extends the original timelines by two years, according to the company.

The company is developing a multi-chemistry cell platform covering NMC and LFP technologies. According to Ola Electric, the platform is supported by indigenous R&D, increased localisation of battery materials, improved manufacturing yield, and closed-loop material recovery.

Ola Electric's ACC allocation is linked to its broader plan to scale its cell manufacturing capacity towards 20 GWh. The company currently operates a gigafactory in Tamil Nadu as part of its manufacturing ecosystem, along with the Bengaluru-based Battery Innovation Centre.

Bhavish Aggarwal On Revised ACC PLI Timeline

Ola Electric chairman and managing director Bhavish Aggarwal said the revised timeline would provide access to the PLI incentives over the five years.

“The revised timeline is more than an extension. It transforms the economics of our cell business by converting an earlier milestone overhang into a five-year, quarterly PLI opportunity of up to ₹7,240 crore,” Aggarwal said.

The company said it had not factored incentives into its business projections after exceeding the original timelines. It added that the revised schedule could allow it to access the full potential incentive and receive disbursements from next quarter.

Ola Electric is also scheduled to unveil its broader energy product roadmap at its annual Sankalp event on Independence Day, including Shakti, Mahashakti and the next phase of its energy platform.
