Oben Electric, a start-up has announced its entry into the electric 2-wheeler segment. It aims to launch its first product in Q1 of CY2022.
With four vehicles in the pipeline, the company intends to launch a new product every six months over the next two years. Oben EV was founded by IIT Kharagpur and IIM Bangalore Alumni in August 2020.
Dinkar Agrawal, co-founder, Oben Electric said, “We have raised a total of $2.5 million (Rs 18.5 crore) through venture capital funding, which is the highest seed round raised by an E2W startup. Our aim is to enable Indian consumers to make the shift from ICE to EV. Over the next few years, we intend to be a global player with our specialised products.”
The startup is backed by We Founders Circle, which recently received fresh funding from Krishna Bhupal, board member, GVK Power & Infra; Shajikumar Devakar, executive director IIFL Wealth, and other investors.
